Clubs & Activities

The Lower and Middle School Choirs typically begin in October and run Mondays (6th – 8th grade) and Wednesdays (3rd – 5th grade), from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in the auditorium. Choir is open to all Greenfield students in 3rd – 8th grades. 

Both Lower and Middle School Choirs will perform at a Winter Concert (December date TBD) and a Spring Concert (May date TBD). Parents are welcome to attend these concerts and must follow School District of Philadelphia visitor policies and procedures.

Ms. Mowery is bringing art club back for Middle School (6th, 7th, 8th Grade) this fall! Two different workshops will be offered on Tuesdays from 3-4:00 p.m. Stay tuned for 3rd-5th grade dates in the spring!

Student Voice is an after school club for 6th-8th grade students who are interested in leadership, service, and community and is led by Mr. Neary, 8th grade English teacher. It’s an opportunity for you to share your voice, command your strengths, and explore your creativity by designing and leading your own community-building projects. The Debate Team is for 7th and 8th grade students and is led by Mr. Staab, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher.

Students will learn important skills that will help them with gathering research, crafting & defending arguments, and understanding the implications of their arguments. Additionally, students will be exposed to a variety of current events and perhaps most importantly gain confidence in themselves and their speaking.

Interested 7th and 8th graders are welcome to attend an informational meeting, which will be announced by Mr. Staab.

Board games/Chess is an after school club for 4th-8th grade students and is led by Mr. Neary, 8th grade English teacher. This year’s club takes place on Thursdays from 3-4 p.m., starting on 9/11. Attention creative writers in grades 5-8! Join our after-school club to develop Greenfield’s first literary magazine! Whether you enjoy writing stories, poetry, or editing others’ amazing work, you’ll gain experience in the online publishing of student writers.

The club will meet the first 2 Wednesdays of every Month from 3:00pm-4:00pm in Mrs. Croak’s room (room 304), starting Wednesday, October 8th!

Once a permission slip is submitted, you will be added to the Literary Magazine Google Classroom. Pick up a permission slip outside of room 304! For more information, email Mrs. Croak [amkarl@philasd.org]

Through our partnership with non-profit group OPEXPark, we are able to provide various afterschool clubs throughout the year including but not limited to the following. Each club has limited availability and sign ups are advertised in the newsletter prior to the club starting. Dates are subject to change:

• Ink and Ideas: 1st – 4th grade; Mondays (September thru December)
• Fashion Club: 5th – 8th grade; Mondays (January thru June)
• Drama Club as noted above
• Gamers and Makers: 6th – 8th grade; Tuesdays and Thursdays (September thru December)
