Greenfield Spotlight – Ms. Silvers Cohen

Ms. Silvers Cohen has been with Greenfield since 2018. She is our fantastic 7th grade Literacy teacher.

Getting to know Ms. Silvers Cohen
I am originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I taught there for eight years before moving to Philadelphia. I love helping kids discover a passion for literature and writing.

What are the big moments you always look forward to during the school year?
I look forward to seeing our seventh graders work so hard in anticipation of the high school placement process. Students mature so much over the course of the year, and it is a gift to be able to be part of that transformation.

What’s the most important thing you hope students will learn or take-away from your class?
I hope my students see direct connections between the work we do in the classroom and our world outside of it. I want them to walk away with a stronger appreciation for the written word and the immense power it has. We spend considerable time connecting our texts to social issues, and it is my hope that students walk away from seventh grade with the knowledge that they have the power to make an impact.
